Hundreds expected for Run The Gap return
RUNNERS, walkers and families from across Victoria are expected to descend on Halls Gap tomorrow as the Grampians prepares to host the 14th annual Run The Gap event.

Set against the backdrop of the Grampians (Gariwerd), the popular community event will be held on Sunday, May 24, with participants able to choose between a 6km run or walk, a 12km run and a challenging 21km trail run through the national park.
The event has grown into one of the region’s best-known recreational running events, attracting everyone from experienced trail runners to families looking to enjoy the scenery and relaxed community atmosphere.
The 6km course follows trails along Fyans Creek, while the 12km event includes a lap across the wall at Lake Bellfield. The 21km trail run is designed for more experienced competitors and features a mix of fire trails, climbs, descents and rugged terrain through the Grampians landscape.
Organisers say the event continues to appeal because it combines fitness, tourism and community involvement in one of Victoria’s most scenic settings.
Run The Gap is organised by local volunteers, with proceeds supporting community and tourism projects as well as walking and cycling trail improvements around Halls Gap. Organisers also note that $1 from every registration is donated to the Grampians Walking Track Support Group.
A complimentary barbecue breakfast will again be available for participants after the event, with a gold coin donation encouraged from family members and supporters attending throughout the morning.
A “Mini Run The Gap” event for children will also give younger participants the chance to cross the finish-line gantry.
Events begin from 7am on Sunday, with the weekend expected to provide another boost for Halls Gap businesses, accommodation providers and cafes as visitors flow into the region.
More information and registrations are available through the official Run The Gap website.
