Pour a mug for the Biggest Morning Tea
WITH just weeks to go until Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea, local groups and businesses across the region are preparing to bring the community together in support of a good cause. Ararat's Decor Room along with local disability support organisation Pinnacle and Ararat Neighbourhood House are all organising morning teas with the aim of raising substantial funds for cancer research.
Pinnacle Day Program Coordinator Ashtyn Hamilton said the group had started cooking ahead of the day.
“Normally, we could have it much bigger and invite all the programs (people), but we are all doing our own individual ones this year,” she said.
For locals wanting to attend a community event, Ararat’s Decor Room on Barkly Street and the Ararat Neighbourhood House will be hosting morning teas where all community members are welcome.
Decor Room’s Hayden Cooper said the cause resonates with many in the community.
“It relates to a lot of people personally and professionally,” he said.
The Decor Room will host its Biggest Morning Tea for the first time on May 26th, from 10am to 12pm at 278 Barkly Street, Ararat.
The event will feature a wide selection of homemade food, with a ribbon cutting at 10am and a special cake to conclude the morning.
“I’ve done Biggest Morning Tea growing up when I was at school, but it’s also to bring the community together. I like to cook, so all of it will be home-cooked. It’s all for a good cause,” said Hayden.
Meanwhile, Ararat Neighbourhood House will host its own event on Wednesday, May 20th, from 11am.
Manager Teli Kaur said the event continues to grow each year.
“We are very proud to once again host the Biggest Morning Tea, for its third consecutive year,” she said.
“Each year we are growing. It has become an anticipated community tradition.”
“We have seen incredible support from the community, because who doesn’t know someone affected by cancer.”
